Route

The route is still under development and the guide will be published in 2027.

A spectacular route full of culture and history along Norway's fjord coast, from Egersund to Trondheim. This pilgrimage route goes along what used to be Norway's most important road: the North Sea. After all, travelling by sea used to be safer and faster than travelling by land. Pilgrims also used this route a lot. Partly by sailing boat and partly by land. Nowadays, this old pilgrim route is very suitable to travel by bicycle.

Length from Egersund to Trondheim: 1500-2000 km*
Length of connecting route from Kristiansand to Egersund: 286 km
Starting point: Egersund church
End point: Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim
Time needed: approx. 4 weeks
Difficulty 3/5
Best season: mid-May - end of September

* You can shorten the route in many places by taking a ferry.

What’s interesting, even if you don’t understand Dutch, is that I have an introduction clip for a presentation, on Youtube, which gives you an impression of the Gudbrandsdalsleden by bicycle.
